The Ambassador from Cuba to Washington D.C. sent me an invitation to the re-opening of the Cuban Embassy July 20, 2015.
The re-opening of the Cuban Embassy on 16th St. NW in Washington was a historic moment signifying one more nail in the coffin of the Cold War. We are one step closer to normalizing relations with one of our closest neighbors.
The Cuban flag behind me was put on display for re-opening of the Cuban Embassy in Washington DC, July 20, 2015 after being lowered over 50 years ago and saved for this historic occasion.
I met Washington Post author,David Montgomery, who wrote this piece the captures the spirit of the event “Cuban flag over the new embassy in Washington signals a victory shared by American advocates“
I was interviewed the radio about the Embassy re-opening. My interview begins after the news about 7.5 minutes into the program. Thanks to Chronicas de la Raza and KPFA and Julieta Kusnir.
